The California Emerging Technology Fund (CETF)

The California Emerging Technology Scholarship was created to honor and celebrate the life and legacy of longtime UC Merced supporter Carol Whiteside. Carol was a founding CETF Director, past mayor of Modesto and founder of the Greater Valley Center that forged a special partnership with UC Merced to advance the San Joaquin Valley as a region of opportunity. The scholarship is designed to support undergraduate students who have an interest in STEM to study and advance digital inclusion in the San Joaquin Valley

Eligibility Criteria: Must complete the Continuing Student Scholarship Application by March 2nd answering that you do have an interest in STEM to study and advance digital inclusion in the Valley, You must submit a short essay summarizing your observations about the digital divide in the San Joaquin Valley and strategies to achieve digital inclusion. Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. Must complete a FAFSA or Dream Act Application by March 2nd of award year. Must maintain full time enrollment for both fall and spring terms.
